Ukraine’s Day of Unity

Ukraine’s Day of Unity

Ukraine’s Day of Unity is celebrated today, on January 22!

Unity Day is a state holiday marking the anniversary of the signing of the Unification Act between the Ukrainian People's Republic and the West Ukrainian People's Republic in 1919.

While historically marking the unification of Ukraine's eastern and western regions, and the foundation of the state's modern statehood, the day is now celebrated every year at the national level to reflect the unity of the Ukrainian nation - the occasion is often marked with the creation of human chains.

In light of Russia's ongoing war on Ukraine, this year's Day of Unity holds even greater significance for Ukrainians as a demonstration of their collective strength and determination.
