Stories about Plants in Narratives of War and Displacement

🙌 A quick reminder about the next one in the series of Ukrainian Culture Seminars taking place on Monday (23 January) at 3 pm (Linacre College) with the speaker Dr Darya Tsymbalyuk.

🔸 In her talk, Darya will present stories and examples from her scholarly and creative work with people displaced from Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts after Russia attacked the east of Ukraine in 2014. She will share mental maps of different cities in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts drawn by people during a collaborative art project "Donbas Odyssey", oral histories about gardens, trees, and houseplants, and sketches from an animation film "Displaced Garden", which tells stories of people and plants displaced by the war and which is based on her PhD research.

📌 Ukrainian Culture Seminars include 9 meetings held every Monday at 3pm in Linacre College Tannor Room, and it will provide greater insights into certain aspects of Ukrainian history and culture.

All seminars are free to attend and open to everyone!
