Day of Remembrance of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred
On the 20th of February, Ukraine marks the Day of Remembrance of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred. Today we honour the heroes who gave their lives in 2014 during the Revolution of Dignity for the free and democratic Ukrainian future.
Activists stood up against the corrupted pro-Russian regime of the ex-president Yanukovych, marking a united people’s choice for Ukraine to pursue European future.
On February 20, 2014, the fight for Revolution of Dignity reached its climax. 48 protesters were killed that day. Altogether 107 people died during the Revolution (counting Kyiv only). They are commemorated as Heavenly Hundred.
Now, thousands more of Ukrainian heroes are protecting what the Heavenly Hundred died for, on the frontline, defending Ukraine from the Russian occupiers. In the meantime, millions of Ukrainians in the country and all over the world are working, donating, volunteering, and doing everything for Ukraine's soonest victory and independence. Ukraine stands strong and keeps fighting for the values laid back in 2014.
❗️This week we are welcoming everyone to stand with Ukraine and for Ukraine at the Oxford Ukraine Peace Rally. Come at 1 pm, on February 24th, to the Radcliffe Square. Good will win over the evil, and the light – over the dark.
