Michaelmas Term 2026 Programme
The Oxford University Ukrainian Society is excited to share its Michaelmas Term 2026 programme. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be bringing together students, academics, artists, musicians, partner societies, and friends of Ukraine for a varied programme of cultural events, conversations, screenings, and socials.
From concerts and film to collaborations with other Oxford societies, this Michaelmas is all about building community, sharing Ukrainian culture, and creating spaces to meet, exchange ideas, and spend time together.
Week 1
15 October, Pub Social
We kick off Michaelmas with an informal pub social - a chance to reconnect after the break, welcome new members, and meet others interested in Ukraine and the Society.
16 October, Reception with Prof. Lord Lionel Tarassenko
A special reception with Professor Lord Lionel Tarassenko, bringing together members of the Society for an evening of conversation and connection.
Week 2
19 October, Svitlana Khyliuk
An event with Svitlana Khyliuk, Dean of Faculty of Law at Ukrainian Catholic University, offering an opportunity to hear from and engage with one of Ukraine’s leading academic voices.
22 October, How Not to Flee a War - with the Europeanist Society
24 October, Warwick Ukrainian Society Visit
We’ll be welcoming members of Warwick Ukrainian Society to Oxford for a day of meeting, exchange, and community-building between our two societies.
Week 3
27 October, Games Night with the Polish Society
An evening together with the Oxford Polish Society, with games, conversation, and a relaxed opportunity to meet people from both communities.
Week 4
1 November, Lubomyr Melnyk Concert
A special concert with celebrated Ukrainian pianist and composer Lubomyr Melnyk, internationally known for developing his distinctive continuous music technique.
Week 6
19 November, Social with Smoothies Society
A collaborative social with Oxford’s Smoothies Society - a light-hearted mid-term evening to meet new people and take a break from the Michaelmas workload.
TBC, Charity Casino Night
A charity evening combining games and fundraising in support of a good cause. Further details will be announced soon.
Week 7
24 November, “Rescue” Film Screening
TBC, Mariia Petrovska Concert
A concert with Mariia Petrovska, adding another evening of Ukrainian music and culture to our Michaelmas programme. Date and further details to follow.
Week 8
30 November, St Andrew’s Day with the Polish Society
We’ll join the Oxford Polish Society for a collaborative celebration of St Andrew’s Day, bringing our communities together for one of the final socials of term.
04 December, CEE Christmas Party
A festive end-of-term celebration together with the wider Central and Eastern European community in Oxford.
TBC, Christmas Carols
We’ll round off Michaelmas with Christmas carols and a warm seasonal gathering before everyone heads away for the vacation.
Whether you have been part of the Society for years or are joining us for the first time, we would love to see you at our events this Michaelmas. Our programme is open to the Oxford community and friends of Ukraine, with further information, venues, registration links, and any programme updates to be shared through our mailing list and social media.
